The Corn Trail - Mongo National Park

Updated: Jul 16, 2019

The Corn Trail walking track is a historic trail for hikers to traverse a wide variety of landscapes and follow in the footsteps of the past. Set in Mongo National Park you can either start from the top of the trail at Dasyurus picnic area and make your way down hill ( the easier option ). Or if you like a challenge ( we do ) you can start Lower Corn Trail Carpark and make your way up hill. This is a 16km hike graded as hard and recommends 6 hours.

The hike was beautiful a good mix of terrains, it was very easy to stay on track with a few fell trees in our path it was still easy to navigate. We had a cool encounter with a flock of yellow tailed black cockatoo’s who were playing and feeding in the trees above us for about 10 minutes. Some of the inclines were fairly steep but manageable we had a nice water break on top of one of the hills you travel over. We encountered 7 people throughout our hike and they were all headed downhill. We completed the Corn Trail in minutes under 4 hours. We were greeted at the finishing point by my amazing Nan and Nick who were waiting for us with hot pies, tea and homemade lemon cake! The perfect way to end a hike and the Queens Birthday Long Weekend.

If you have any questions about the hike fire away! Has anyone else hiked The Corn Trail?
